Fidget packs
Most people are now familiar with fidget toys. They are easy to find, and over the years we have collected a variety of different types.
A mixed starter pack such as the Paochocky Fidget Toy Set can be a good place to begin, as it gives children the chance to try different fidgets and find what they like best.
Ear defenders
Most children who regularly use ear defenders will bring their own, but it is helpful to keep a few spare pairs available just in case they are needed. These ProCase ear defenders for children are reasonably priced and come in a wide range of colours.
Trampolines
Trampolines can be a great way for children to self-regulate and release energy or stress. In our experience, they are very popular and often well used. Small indoor trampolines are usually affordable, easy to store, and simple to set up. A suitable option is a mini fitness trampoline (compact indoor rebounder).
Sensory tent
Sensory tents can be very helpful for some children, offering a safe, enclosed space where they can take a break. They can reduce sensory overload, lower anxiety and support self-regulation. We often make ours more comfortable by adding blankets, cushions, fidget toys and soft fairy lights. A suitable option is a sensory blackout pop-up tent (calm-down / teepee style).
